March 18th - Make a Charcuterie Board

  • Date: Saturday, March 18th
  • Time: 12:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • Instructor: Bruce Macdonald (KJP Staff Member)
  • Price: $185

Join Bruce Macdonald as he walks you through the basics of making your own charcuturie board with a handle. You will leave this class with a finished charcuterie board ready for immediate use!

Students will start the class by selecting their charcuterie board from our 24" stock of maple, walnut, roasted maple, ash, or cherry. Then you will debark anything that needs to be removed and will begin to use one of our handle templates to mark off which side you want the handle to be on. Next students will use either the bandsaw, or the jigsaw to cut out roughly along the outline that they traced before using the router along with one of our Whiteside template bits to flush trim the board with the template on it. Then, students will begin to sand their boards smooth before adding any round-overs to the edges. Once the boards are sanded smooth, each student will get to apply Honeybees, which is our food-safe finish to the board and will be able to go home with the remainder of the jar to apply to their cutting boards at home. You may also add bumper feet to the underside to give the board a more floating feel.

In the class students can expect to use a bandsaw, jigsaw, orbital sander, router, and drill press

All skill levels are welcome, but this class will move at a pace comfortable for a beginner making their first charcuterie board.

All tools and materials will be provided. Students will receive 20% off any purchases they make on the day of the workshop. Festool, Woodpeckers, and plywood excluded.
