Join Phil Wood from Functional Reclaimed to build your very own river table (up to 2' x 4'). You will leave the class with a completed table that is ready for legs (metal table legs will be available for students at 20% off). Students are welcome to participate with a partner.

Day 1 - You will start the class by selecting a live edge piece of maple, cherry or walnut. You will learn the proper techniques to prepare your wood, and build your box/framework to contain your epoxy pour. Students will then select their pigments and colours before final mixing and pouring commences. Projects will be left to cure and harden until following class.

Day 2 - Students will remove their tables from the mold and learn to how to properly flatten and prepare the epoxy for sanding. A large part of this session will address proper sanding techniques for epoxy and steps needed to take before applying a finish. To achieve the desired profile for the edge of your table you will use a router. Students will then be guided through the application process of multiple finishes before applying a coat of Rubio Monocoat to their table.

All tools and materials will be provided including: a 12L Epoxy Kit ($399.95), 100ml Rubio Monocoat Pure ($29.95), 3 x Mixing Pots, Maple, Walnut, or Cherry Live Edge and all materials for box mold. Approximate retail value of $615. Students will likely have 1/4-1/2 of their kit remaining to use for future projects at home. 

In the class you will be using a track saw, router, palm sander, and drill. 

All skill levels are welcome, but this class will move at a pace comfortable for a beginner making their first epoxy side table.
