April 13th - Moss Frame Workshop

Date: Tuesday, April 13th
Time: 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructor: The Urban Botanist
Cost: $395

Join The Urban Botanist in building and designing your own unique wooden slab moss frame. Spend the evening building your wooden frame and selecting a wooden slab cross section to create a "river" style effect. We will then learn more about the magical world of moss! A variety of preserved species will be provided for you to design your own custom look, as well as preserved foliage to add as you wish. The moss provided during this session to create you moss frame art is entirely preserved, meaning it will never die, decay, mold or fade! Never worry about watering it or about how much sunlight it receives. Perfect for the low maintenance gardener!

You will have the choice of maple, cherry, ash or walnut for your slab, and you can use the same species or contrasting pieces for the frame. Students will be taught how to finish the slabs using Rubio Monocoat to protect and bring out the grain and beauty of the wood. Pieces are customizable in size up to 2' x 4'.

In this class you will use drill/drivers, sanders, miter saw and various hand tools.

Students are welcome to work with a partner.

All tools and materials will be provided.
