Time: Day 1, 2 & 3 - 9:30-4:30
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructor: Jeff Tobin
Join us to build your very own large river table (up to 4' x 8'). You will leave the class with a completed table that is ready for legs (you can bring your own or purchase for 20% and install in the class) on the last day. Students are welcome to participate with a partner.
Day 1 - You will start the class by selecting a slab from our live edge room. Next you will prepare both the wood and your box/framework to contain your epoxy pour. All of the colours available from EcoPoxy will be available for mixing. You will finish the day by pouring your epoxy and leaving it to set.
Day 2 - Students will return to their tables removed from their mold and flattened. You will spend the day sanding, cutting your table to appropriate size and width, and profiling the edge. By the end of the day 2, one side of your table will be completed with finish.
Day 3 - You will flip your table and finish the other side of the table, and install inserts and bolts for your legs. Your table will be left to cure in the classroom and delivered (in the Ottawa area) to you by KJP staff on an arranged date.
All tools and materials will be provided, including: 30L Epoxy Kit ($809.95), 350mL Rubio Monocoat Pure ($69.95), all box material and hardware, buckets and pigments for mixing, live edge slab/slabs, approximate retail value of $3000-3500.
Beverages, snacks and lunch will be provided, please list any dietary restrictions in the notes section at checkout for you and your partner.
All skill levels are welcome, but this class will move at a pace comfortable for a beginner making their epoxy table.
In this class you will be using a track saw, router, palm sander, drill and various hand tools.
