Ebiara is a stunning wood that can range from a golden yellow brown colour to deep reddish brown with dark black streaks or stripes.
Often the wood grain is interlocked so working with hand tools can be difficult while the quartersawn can be downright nasty for tearout. Ebiara turns well and has no issues with gluing or finishing.
Often used for wood turning or small decorative objects. It is also found in furniture and cabinet making.
Ebiara is sometimes referred to as Red Zebrawood, and for a good reason. The two species are closely related and have a similar feel.
