It’s rare to find high-quality turning wood with these dimensions! We have a limited quantity of Ambrosia Maple Platter Blanks in the dimensions below. These blanks are 2” thick, with a wide circumference for you to carve something large and exceptional. This blank has already been kiln dried and is ready to be "turned" into your next great project! 

What is Ambrosia Maple? Well it's not actually a species - but rather two things that happen to the wood when it has been infested by the Ambrosia beetle! The most obvious is the tiny holes from the beetle boring through, but it also leaves some interesting streaking caused from a fungus it carries on its legs. Of course it goes without saying all our lumber is kiln dried and these visitors are no longer an issue!

There can be a variance from batch to batch in terms of how much streaking we get - but we do try our best to send you the boards that have the most character. In regards to the tiny holes - they will need to be filled and it's a great opportunity to try our P-Tec Wood Filler.
