This wood is a popular choice for making tool handles and baseball bats. Other popular uses would be flooring, millwork, and furniture.
The heartwood is light to medium brown with a sapwood that is typically beige or light brown. It’s not always clear where the sapwood ends, and the heartwood begins. The grain is quite coarse and strikes a strong resemblance to oak. Typically it is fairly straight-grained but you will occasionally find a curly or figured board!
What is happening to White Ash trees? The emerald ash borer has decimated hundreds of millions of ash trees. Because of this, ash is starting to disappear from lumber yards and forests alike.
Although these boards have been skipped dress to show colour and grain, they will still require some TLC and additional milling. If you would prefer to have the milling done for you - check out our S4S White Ash Lumber.

S4S Lumber
Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.
The term “surfaced” or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.
For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”
I am very pleased with my shipment of white ash ! All boards were wider than stated and very flat and straight. Thank you for your prompt service and shipping ! Ken
Great product. Great service!
I have placed many orders, the product is usually excellent. Not so much this time, I pointed out some issues during pick up, the less than perfect product was blamed on a new plainer. It has required a lot of sanding which equals a lot of extra work. If this were my first order I would probably not return. Fortunately as stated the product is usually very good.
Prompt shipping. Well packaged. Happy customer!
Laser cuts through it clean and the colour is great
This batch did not cut out well with my laser, lost quarter of almost every sheet, plenty of waste
