Curly Maple works well, though a sharp hand plane will reduce the amount of tearout that occurs. It takes finishes and stains well and poses no difficulty in gluing.
This wood gets used in many different ways. From showcased as a main wood on instruments to accents on furniture. You can also find it used on turnings or other decorative objects.
