Meet the Hovr Slim - A Solution for Thinner Dimensional Lumber
What makes the Hovr Slim different?
We created this new option after countless customers expressed they had met difficulty in finding 2” thick shelf material and requested a solution for thinner shelves. The hovr slim is around 33% smaller in height than our Hovr Classic bracket and works with shelves as thin as 1.5” for a regular install. The male (shelf) bracket now has predrilled holes every 2 inches, and the female (wall) bracket has them every 4 inches.
Why is the Hovr Slim the same price as the Hovr Classic?
Our new Hovr Slim line may be smaller than our Hovr Classic, but what you might not know is that it uses around 25% MORE aluminum than our standard bracket. This is because, due to the vertically smaller design of the bracket, there is only enough space for one screw when attaching the female bracket to the shelf, and the male bracket to the wall (1 screw per stud not two like with the Hovr Classic). This means the bracket itself needed to be made more robust. The Hovr Slim is not meant to be a “cheaper” option, it’s simply a labour of love we made for our customers who kept asking us for options for thinner shelves.
How much can the Hovr Slim hold?
We recommend a max loading of 150lbs when installed into 2 studs at 8” Depth for safe use. The Hovr Slim is perfect for smaller, lighter, floating shelf projects, but it’s not built for maximum strength. If you have a higher weight project, and your shelves are thick enough, you’ll want to stick with the Hovr Classic.
