You may also recognize this wood as Goncalo Alves. The heartwood is a nice medium reddish brown with dark brown or black streaking. Tigerwood darkens with age and typically has a wavy or interlocked grain. It is commonly used in a variety of larger projects such as furniture, cabinets, and flooring. It is also an excellent choice for building pool cues, archery bows, or knife handles.
Tigerwood has excellent weathering and rot resistant properties making it a good candidate for outdoor furniture.
*Although we try and make sure all the boards include some amount of black striping - often it is not possible on small pieces and instead you will receive the beautiful orange-brown / russett colouring that Tigerwood is known for.
Although these boards have been skipped dress to show colour and grain, they will still require some TLC and additional milling. If you would prefer to have the milling done for you - check out our S4S Tigerwood Lumber.
