Aromatic Cedar Thin

Nothing smells better than these cedar wood planks!

This wood is extremely colourful with a large range of colour from reds to violet-browns. The sap wood is a distinctive yellow colour and unlike most sapwoods, it can be found in streaks through the heartwood, not just on the outside of the tree.

Be prepared for a bit of a challenge. There are many knots found in aromatic cedar which can be a challenge. The wood also has a high silica content that will wreak havoc on your edge tools. It glues and finishes well though it is typically left unfinished.

Unfinished Aromatic Cedar is great for closets, chest and box lining because it keeps the bugs away. It is also quite rot resistant making it perfect for fence posts or outdoor furniture or projects.

Great for crafts, scroll saw work, intarsia, chip carving, laser engraving, and much more!

4/4 Rough Cut Aromatic Cedar Lumber

Very good but not optimal

Very red. Using together with existing in a cedar hope chest refurbishment. The colour contrasts but the figuring is good. Some of the knots have spalted which significantly reduces the yield. I was able to salvage parts of the effected boards when resawing though. My piece dimensions nominally breakout within the 5 x 48in overall dimensions very well but the spalted damage reduced an expected 80-85% yield to about 70%. To be fair, any boards like that should be culled and iffered as a lesser grade. The tight knotted appearance is expected.

Aromatic Cedar

I was happy with the dimensions of these boards and delivery to the East Coast was great. Very timely and no damage to the package. I used this wood to make a shelf in a bathroom I am renovating. Only complaint is that it wasn’t as “aromatic” as I was hoping. I thought it would smell the whole room up, but doesn’t seem to be the case.
