Black Cherry wood is coveted by furniture and cabinet makers!

The heart wood of this wood is a beautiful light pinkish brown when freshly cut and darkens to a rich medium reddish brown as it ages and is exposed to light. The sap wood is a creamy pale-yellow colour and there are occasional dark red/black pitch pockets.

Cherry is desired by furniture and cabinet makers for its easy workability and even colouring. Even curly or figured pieces plane and machine well.

In order to offer more protective packing for shipping - our lengths are often 1/4" less than sizes listed. Need a wider width or longer length? Please email us for a quote. Custom millwork charges will apply.

Beautiful Cherry 3/4" S4S

Lovely cherry with some striking grain patterns. I am in the middle of making some book cases for my office, and this cherry will not be used for anything else: I'm keeping it for myself.

Working with Thin Lumber

4" and wider thins are resawn from a board thick enough to produce 2 pieces and then planed down to a finished thickness of 1/4". This milling process releases tensions in the board and may well induce slight cupping and/or bowing in the finished piece. These movements are normal and not considered "defects". They will not be grounds for a return or refund.
