What You'll Need

  • A solid piece of wood (iroko, teak, or walnut)
  • Measuring tape and a saw
  • Sandpaper (fine grit)
  • Wood sealer or waterproof finish
  • Optional: handles, book rest, or wine glass slot

How-To:

Measure the width of the tub and cut your plank to fit with a slight overhang. Sand smooth and seal with a waterproof finish. Customize with added features like handles, slots, or even a monogram burned into the surface with a wood burner.

  • A flat piece of hardwood - our S4S lumber works perfectly
  • Forstner bit and drill
  • Sandpaper
  • Natural oil or wood finish (optional)

How-To:

Drill evenly spaced holes to fit standard tea lights. Sand thoroughly and finish with a coat of oil or wood cream to bring out the grain. It’s quick, rustic, and stunning.

  • Milled Wood strips- our S4S maple, white oak or poplar would be excellent options!
  • Miter saw for 45° cuts
  • Wood glue and clamps
  • Sandpaper and finish
  • Glass, backing board, and photo

How-To:

Cut and miter the wood strips to frame size, glue and clamp until set. Finish as desired and add a favorite photo—bonus points for including a handwritten message on the back.
