Appearance

Normally a pale cream colour, the spalting creates an amazing kaleidoscope of colours and patterns ranging form white to dark black lines.

Workability

Working with spalted wood can be a challenge. There are variable densities to contend with which makes it difficult to sand.

Uses

This wood is commonly used for accents, small decorative objects, and turnings.

Additional Comments

Spalting is a visually strong figure so it's best to use it sparingly. Using too much can overpower a piece and make it appear garish, though this is a subjective thing.
