Amana - 46101 - 3/16" Spiral Plunge

46101 - Spiral Plunge (Solid Carbide, Up-Cut)

  • Shank (d): 1/4"
  • Diameter (D): 3/16"
  • Cutting Length (B): 3/4"
  • Overall Length (L): 2"
  • Flutes: 2 Flute Up-Cut

Spiral-flute bits combine a shearing action in cutting with an augering action in chip clearance. The shearing action yields an especially clean accurate cut while the augering action clears chips from the cut.

The ‘Up-Cut’ shears from the bottom up pulling chips from the bottom up thus allowing deeper penetration with less stress on the tool. An excellent choice for mortising.

Special unique carbide grade increased clearance geometry and razor-sharp cutting edges with polished flutes provide a superior finish and longer tool life especially in abrasive materials. Great for production settings and excellent for creating grooves and dado cuts in particleboard, plywood and laminate. Primarily used on CNC machines and other automatic routers. Can be used with handheld and table-mounted portable routers.

Faulty bit and awful customer service from KJP

Had an issue with one of the two I purchased. Contacted Amana who told me to get a RMA from KJP. My initial contact was ignored (no response then a confirmation I was being ignored when someone accidentally replied all instead of sending a bcc) Then I was offered the opportunity to return the bit via post at my expense (don't live in Ottawa no mo') provided it had not been used. In my original email I said I got home and used it. The issue was it marred the work and the only way one could see that is if ya used the bit.

Turns out there was a problem the bit was defective and Amana took care of me without any assistance from KJP.

Was a gross interaction and I don't know why Andrew was such a meanie Richard head from the jump.

Really good bit. The pilot drill broke pretty early on. Seems to be a somewhat common issue. So I happened to be back in Ottawa and decided to pop in to KJP. Ran in to Andrew, who had no idea who I was, and asked about buying a replacement pilot drill. He was rude af and told me they don't stock the drill but I could go online and order it tho...

That was very helpful because I wasn't aware you can buy stuff on the internet.
