4/4 Elm Lumber
American Elm is a classic North American hardwood known for its interlocked grain, warm brown tones, and excellent toughness!
Historically used for furniture, boxes, and utility woodworking, Elm machines well, holds fasteners securely, and offers a unique grain pattern that stands out from more common species.
American Elm ranges from light tan to medium brown, often with subtle reddish or grey undertones. The grain is typically interlocked, which gives Elm its characteristic ribbon or slightly wild grain appearance. This interlocking grain is also what makes Elm very strong and resistant to splitting.
Elm sands and finishes well and looks excellent with oil finishes that highlight the grain movement and natural color variation.
