Amana - 51408-Z - 3/16" Aluminum Cutting

51408-Z - Aluminum Cutting (Solid Carbide, Spiral 'O' Flute, Up-Cut)

  • Shank: 1/4"
  • Diameter: 3/16"
  • Cutting Length: 1/2"
  • Overall Length: 2"
  • Flutes: 1 Flute Up-Cut

To be used only on CNC machines and routers with automatic feeding.

Using the highest quality sub-micrograin carbide these bits have a special proprietary edge processing system featuring a super high polished cutting edge with a unique “mirror finish” resulting in clean cuts, less chance for chip re-welding, a superior surface finish and a longer tool life. Right hand helix right hand cut.

Specifically designed for a variety CNC machining applications excellent for cutting.

Ideal for industrial applications our spiral ‘O’ flute router bits are manufactured using innovative techniques and materials that yield superior results with each cut and help make aluminum projects less labor-intensive.

Router collet reducer RB-102 (1/4 to 1/8) available for 1/8 shank bits.

  • Creates a harder and tougher cutting edge allows for a prolonged cutting edge life and helps to prevent the build-up of material in the flutes while cutting
  • Have the tendency to run/spin much faster than an uncoated tool
  • Optimized flute geometry and low Total Indicated Runout (TIR) guarantees clean cuts, essentially eliminates sanding and reduces chatter (where the machine or work piece vibrates) under high chip loads (when used with low TIR spindles)
  • High flute volume supports high feed rates and chip loads
  • High aspect ratio for single pass deep-reach cutting
  • Flute geometry optimized for cutting sign foam, sign board, hardwoods, thermoplastics and phenolic composites

Warning: Never attempt to cut ferrous metals with these bits.

Inspect cut quality adjust feed / speed accordingly.

For optimal results and extended tool life use mist lubricant system or air cooling.
  • Razor sharp cutting edge
  • Effortless chip removal
  • Helps prevent chip re-welding
  • Extends tool life
  • Exceptional cut quality
  • Dissipates heat well and prevents melting

Faulty bit and awful customer service from KJP

Had an issue with one of the two I purchased. Contacted Amana who told me to get a RMA from KJP. My initial contact was ignored (no response then a confirmation I was being ignored when someone accidentally replied all instead of sending a bcc) Then I was offered the opportunity to return the bit via post at my expense (don't live in Ottawa no mo') provided it had not been used. In my original email I said I got home and used it. The issue was it marred the work and the only way one could see that is if ya used the bit.

Turns out there was a problem the bit was defective and Amana took care of me without any assistance from KJP.

Was a gross interaction and I don't know why Andrew was such a meanie Richard head from the jump.

Really good bit. The pilot drill broke pretty early on. Seems to be a somewhat common issue. So I happened to be back in Ottawa and decided to pop in to KJP. Ran in to Andrew, who had no idea who I was, and asked about buying a replacement pilot drill. He was rude af and told me they don't stock the drill but I could go online and order it tho...

That was very helpful because I wasn't aware you can buy stuff on the internet.

Amana spiral compression bit

Excellent bit with Spectra finish, very clean cutting leaving very clean top and bottom edges on Baltic Birch plywood
