Purpleheart Turning Blank

We will provide you with a high quality Purpleheart turning blank in the dimensions of your choice. Our bowl blanks have already been kiln dried and are ready to be "turned" into your next amazing project! 

We can sometimes accommodate a larger blank than our standard sizes. Please email us for availability and a quote.

Dimensions may vary +/- 1/4" as we often prefer to lightly skip dress the turning blanks to reveal grain & colour. Some blanks may also come with waxed faces and ends.

Purpleheart is a favourite exotic hardwood for woodworkers, turners, and crafters alike thanks to its striking violet hue. Originating in Central to South America, this incredible species can grow up to an impressive 170 feet tall! While the sapwood can be a creamy yellow to gray, the heartwood boasts a bright purple colour that catches the eye of everyone in the vicinity. Although the colour of this hardwood will darken over time, you will still have a piece naturally coloured a dark indigo as the years pass.

We recommend using Honey Bee's Natural Wood Cream for a long lasting and food safe finish. Made with only 2 ingredients - pure beeswax and 100% food grade mineral oil - this soft paste is easy to spread and will protect and enhance the natural beauty of your woodturning project.

One bad apple

Ordered pieces for a large cutting board, the maple pieces were great but one purple heart had a serious corkscrew twist in it and I had to mill it down quite a bit to be usable
