The heartwood is a light to medium brown that often has an olive hue. The grain is straight with a course, uneven texture. You’ll commonly find this wood used in cabinetry, furniture, trim, flooring, boat building, barrels, and veneer. White Oak is by far one of our most popular woods so we offer it in a variety of sizes.

In order to offer more protective packing for shipping - our lengths are often 1/4" less than sizes listed. Need a wider width or longer length? Please email us for a quote. Custom millwork charges will apply.

White but red

The wood order was for white oak but it was whitish red oak. It was ok to use for the project that I needed it for. The reason I'm saying is white oak has small grain pattern but red oak has a larger grain pattern. This is what I received.

Working with Thin Lumber

4" and wider thins are resawn from a board thick enough to produce 2 pieces and then planed down to a finished thickness of 1/4". This milling process releases tensions in the board and may well induce slight cupping and/or bowing in the finished piece. These movements are normal and not considered "defects". They will not be grounds for a return or refund.
