Drill Press Protractor

Woodpeckers introduces the Drill Press Protractor... a deceptively simple tool that delivers a high level of accuracy when setting angles on your drill press and other critical tools in your shop. It's a big step for a woodworker to walk away from straight and square and start incorporating angles in joinery and design. Setting angles accurately on tools and jigs represents a huge part of the challenge. The Drill Press Protractor uses a vernier scale to let you set an angle as precisely as 5 minutes of a degree while reading engraved lines that are widely spaced and easy to see. Once you have your angle set, just mount the Drill Press Protractor in your chuck and adjust the table to match. Whether you're tackling splayed leg chairs and stools or adding a mid-century modern look to a coffee table or credenza, the Drill Press Protractor makes sure your angles are spot on.

You have your choice of degrees and minutes or quarter-degree graduations. Just turn the vernier over to change the scale. The vernier allows you to set small fractions of a degree using a scale where the lines are widely spaced and easy to see (instead of crammed together so tight you can't tell one from another)

"Tramming" your drill press has never been simpler. Returning your drill press to square can be just as challenging as setting an angle in the first place. But with the Drill Press Protractor, it's remarkably simple. Just set the DPP to 0°, chuck it up, adjust your table to match and lock. For verification, turn the chuck by hand and make sure it doesn't bind at any point.

Ever try to drill a dowel right on its centreline? The vee machined into the base of the DPP makes it a simple set-up. Just bring the vee down onto the dowel and help  it "float" into position. Clamp the dowel down and exchange the DPP for your drill bit and it'll be right on the centreline.

Don't get boxed in by the name. While it is called the Drill Press Protractor, that's really just the beginning of this tool. For instance, miter gauge scales are notoriously inaccurate. You can set any angle perfectly on your miter gauge by setting the angle on your DPP, then aligning the shaft to the miter bar and the DPP base to the face fo the miter gauge.

Like all Woodpeckers products, the Drill Press Protractor is precisely machined and carefully inspected in their Strongsville, Ohio facility just south of Cleveland.
