What colour is Wenge? This beautiful wood has a distinctive look with a medium brown heartwood filled with black streaks throughout. The grain is straight and extremely coarse. It is often used as an alternative for projects requiring a dark wood like Ebony. Where does Wenge come from? This hard, durable wood is from Central Africa.
This is not a wood species for the faint of heart. It is extremely difficult to work with hand or power tools and it will dull edges quickly. It doesn’t even sand well because of the changing densities in the wood. The pores are huge and require filling in order to achieve a level finish. All that to be said, the end results are more than worth it! Wenge is used for furniture, turnings, and musical instruments. The slivers from this wood are plentiful and nasty. They often get lodged in the skin and can go septic. Be sure to wear gloves to help prevent these slivers!
Although these boards have been skipped dress to show colour and grain, they will still require some TLC and additional milling. If you would prefer to have the milling done for you - check out our S4S Wenge Lumber.

Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.

Excellent, easy to order and delivered on time. This plywood engraves and cuts very nice. I will be purchasing from KJP again in the near future.
Great purchase, wood smells and looks amazing. Wood purchase again in the future.
Having used typical shop vacs from both Shopvac and Ridgid I could not believe the difference in performance, efficiency, noise level, features and dust extraction capability of the Festool CT MIDI I. After attaching the MIDI to my Milwaukee track saw, I couldn’t see any dust anywhere which was quite a departure from what I have been accustomed to. Yes, the Festool is pricey however if you value your lungs and you insist on highest level of dust extraction capability, then it is worth every single penny spent to buy one.
