Iroko Bowl Blank

Iroko Turning Blank

We will provide you with a high quality Iroko bowl blank in the dimensions of your choice. This blank has already been kiln dried and is ready to be "turned" into your next great project!

We can sometimes accommodate a larger blank than our standard sizes. Please email us for availability and a quote.

Dimensions may vary +/- 1/4" as we often prefer to lightly skip dress the turning blanks to reveal grain & colour. Some blanks may also come with waxed faces and ends.

Colour and Workability

Colour and Workability

Just like Afrormosia, Iroko is sometimes called African Teak. The heart wood ranges from yellow to a golden brown with a clearly marked pale yellow sapwood.

Fairly easy to work with although the interlocked grain can cause tearout during surface preparation operations. There are also deposits of calcium carbonate present sometimes which have a significant dulling effect of tool edges.

Recommended Finish

Recommended Finish

We recommend using Honey Bee's Natural Wood Cream for a long lasting and food safe finish. Made with only 2 ingredients - pure beeswax and 100% food grade mineral oil - this soft paste is easy to spread and will protect and enhance the natural beauty of your woodturning project.
