MTC has chosen M2 High Speed Steel (HSS) for the spokeshave blades. M2 HSS has high abrasion resistance which means it will hold a sharp edge much longer than many other steels. Having used typical shop vacs from both Shopvac and Ridgid I could not believe the difference in performance, efficiency, noise level, features and dust extraction capability of the Festool CT MIDI I. After attaching the MIDI to my Milwaukee track saw, I couldn’t see any dust anywhere which was quite a departure from what I have been accustomed to. Yes, the Festool is pricey however if you value your lungs and you insist on highest level of dust extraction capability, then it is worth every single penny spent to buy one.
