S4S Plantation Teak Lumber

Outdoor furniture, shower bench, and so much more!

How is Plantation Teak different than Burmese Teak? For one, it is grown more rapidly so the younger smaller wood is more prone to checks and movement. It also does not have the same silica content which partially contributes to its rot resistancy. And because it often will have more knots - that means there is more grain movement/direction which can lead to water accumulation on horizontal surfarces.

So although Plantation teak does not technically perform as well as Burmese teak - it does do reasonably well in those similar conditions and at about 1/3rd of the price! That alone should be a reason to consider it on your next project!

The heartwood is golden to medium brown and darkens with age. Plantation teak does tend to have more sap wood present so you should expect a higher contrast in colours.

If you would like to do the milling yourself - try our 4/4 Rough Cut Plantation Teak Lumber for a more budget friendly version.

S4S Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who aren’t equipped with the necessary tools to flatten and straighten boards.

The term "surfaced" or "dressed" refers to a piece of wood that has been milled. To achieve the necessary dimensions, we select a larger board to work from. Both faces and edges are then surfaced so you can be assured that the board is flat and straight. These boards are available in specific sizes.

For example: 3/4” x 5-1/4” x 24”

Rough Cut Lumber

Who are they for? These are ideal for those who enjoy working with machinery or hand tools to mill their own boards.

We use this term to describe boards that require additional milling. Rough cut lumber have been run through the planer to show the grain however they have not been dressed. You will need to mill both faces and edges. Rough cut lumber are available in specific lengths with varying widths.

For example: 4/4 x (5-6”) x 24”

You will receive a board that is just shy of an inch thick, with a width in the range of 5-6”, and is 24” long.

4/4 Teak

Teak Looks great. Its not a super consistent wood, I had a few boards that were majority light and a few that were majority dark but the boards themselves were great!

Francis Rousseau (Ottawa, CA)

Online hardwood orders

I ordered several hardwood varieties from your company recently and it arrived securely wrapped and packaged. The board choices were straight, and we'll chosen. Just like your marketing materials said it would be. I will definitely be a repeat customer. If only your shop wasn't a 9 hour drive away from my shop!!
